Prophetic medicine
Healing, traced to its evidence
The remedies the Qur'an and the Sunnah name — set out with the verse, the hadith and its grading, and the commentary of Ibn al-Qayyim. Nothing here asks you to leave your doctor.
Where it begins
Two verses this work rests on
Everything the foundation teaches about healing is downstream of these. They are quoted here first so nothing that follows has to be taken on trust.
وَإِذَا مَرِضۡتُ فَهُوَ يَشۡفِينِ
And when I am ill, it is He who cures me.
And We send down of the Qur'an that which is healing and mercy for the believers, but it does not increase the wrongdoers except in loss.

What it is
Prophetic medicine, plainly
Three things get muddled together in Nigeria. They are not the same, and we keep them apart.
- Prophetic medicine — the foods and remedies named in the Qur'an and the Sunnah: honey, black seed, oxblood oil, dates, zamzam, talbīna and the rest. What we teach and publish.
- Ruqyah — healing sought through the recitation of the Qur'an and authentic supplications. Related, but distinct.
- General herbal practice — the wider trade in unverified preparations and, at its worst, amulets and charms. Discouraging that is written into our registered objects.
Where conventional medicine fits
Alongside all of it, and never underneath it. If you are ill, see a qualified doctor. If you have been prescribed treatment, take it. Nothing on this site is a diagnosis, and nothing here should be read as a reason to stop or delay medical care.
The founder is a student of knowledge and an engineer, not a physician. What the foundation offers is scholarship and evidence, honestly sourced — and help paying the hospital when the bill is the thing standing in the way.
The library
How every remedy is set out
Each chapter of Treasure of the Prophetic Medicine follows the same order, and so will each page of the library.
- The Qur'anic verse, where one applies, in Arabic with translation and reference
- The hadith evidence, in Arabic with translation and full source citation
- Ibn al-Qayyim's commentary from At-Tibb an-Nabawiyy
- Nutritional composition
- Traditional uses
- Precautions, and footnoted references
Ten to fifteen chapters are published free as the Remedies Library. The rest stay in the book, which is what keeps the library free.
In preparation
The Remedies Library
Around forty-five remedies, each one a page. It is being typeset from the book chapter by chapter, because the Arabic has to be copied from the source rather than retyped.
The remedies
Olive oil, black seed, honey, zamzam, dates, talbīna, miswāk, sidr and around forty more.
The evidence
Verse, hadith and full source citation on every page. Where a grading exists, it is stated.
The commentary
Ibn al-Qayyim's At-Tibb an-Nabawiyy, as quoted in the book, alongside composition and uses.

What people have written to us
A few of the messages the foundation has been sent over the years, published anonymously. They are personal experiences, not evidence — read the note below before you read them.
These are personal accounts that people sent us, published anonymously and with their permission being sought before any name is ever attached. They are individual experiences, not medical evidence: they were not clinically verified, they do not establish that any remedy caused any outcome, and what helped one person may not help another. Nothing here treats, prevents or cures disease. See a qualified doctor about any health condition, and do not stop prescribed treatment.
This is to show much appreciation to you for your prayers and counselling during my pregnancy. I remember the day I nearly lost faith concerning my pregnancy, and I didn't even know what to do. I called you and explained things to you, and you gave me some adhkār to be doing. And alhamdulillah, here I am with my baby today. The most amazing thing about you is that one doesn't need to know you personally before you provide a solution to one's problem.
JazaakumuLlāhu khayran. The milk is now rushing. I appreciate your concern.
JazaakumuLlāhu khayran. Alhamdulillah, it came as a sabab. He passes stool with ease now. May Allah ease your affairs.
I have been disturbing you about the constipation remedy, even though I couldn't get one of the ingredients. Mā shā Allah, I am using it for constipation, but it greatly relieves me of menstrual cramps as well. Sometimes the pain is so severe that I can't move, and if I take anything else for it I usually get a restricted flow. Nothing of the sort this time.
Alhamdulillah, I had relief in my chest. Jazākallāhu khayran.
I was able to fast Ramadan with no issues. But I am still feeling some pain in the region, so I want to wait until I finish the dose. Alhamdulillah so far.
Alhamdulillāhi Rabbil 'ālamīn. We are blessed with a baby boy this morning. Thank you for your listening ear, advice and prayers. Mother, baby and father are doing fine.
